The Plantation Course at Kapalua To Host

LPGA Tour’s 2027 LOTTE Championship

Kapalua, Maui, Hawai‘i (October 5, 2026) – The Plantation Course at Kapalua will host the LPGA Tour’s 2027 LOTTE Championship from March 18 to March 21, 2027. This marks the first time the event will be held at Kapalua, featuring a full field of 120 LPGA professionals competing over four rounds.

The Plantation Course, renowned for its breathtaking ocean views and challenging layout, has a storied history in professional golf. Designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, the par-73, 7,596-yard course has hosted numerous PGA Tour events, including The Sentry, which ran from 1999 to 2025. The course’s unique design and natural beauty have made it a favorite among golfers and golf fans alike.

Kapalua last hosted an LPGA event in 2008, when the Kapalua LPGA Classic was played on The Bay Course. The LPGA’s return to Kapalua is significant for several reasons, as it will mark the return of professional golf to Maui and the Top 100 Course for the first time in two-plus years, and is an economic driver for the Maui community. The 2027 LOTTE Championship is expected to draw significant global attention, bringing professional golf back to one of Hawai‘i’s most iconic courses.

Kapalua and owner Mr. Tadashi Yanai have a rich history of supporting Maui charitable causes.  In 2025, when the PGA Tour announced the cancellation of The Sentry, Mr. Yanai donated $750,000 to various Maui nonprofits, including Scouting America – Aloha Council, Hale Makua Health Services, J. Walter Cameron Center, Ka Lima O Maui, Lahainaluna High School Foundation and Lahaina Junior Golf.

“We are thrilled to welcome the LPGA back to Kapalua and professional golf back to Maui,” said Kapalua Golf General Manager Alex Nakajima. “The Plantation Course offers a unique challenge that will showcase the talents of the world’s best female golfers. Fans can look forward to four days of high-level competition set against the stunning backdrop of the Pacific Ocean.”

The recently completed LOTTE Championship at Hoakalei Country Club on Oʻahu was won by Jeeno Thitikul. Hoakalei Country Club hosted the event from 2022 through 2026.

The golf industry remains a significant economic driver for Maui and the state of Hawai‘i, contributing an estimated $3.4 billion annually to the state’s economy through direct, indirect, and induced impacts. Golf tourism and related retail spending generate over $1 billion per year, underscoring the sport’s vital role in Hawai‘i’s visitor economy.
