Tell me a little about yourself?
My name is Chris Bergquam and I have been at Kapalua Golf for 12 years. Prior to being at Kapalua, I worked as an insurance agent.
When your not at work, what do you like to do?
When I’m not working, I usually spend time golfing, going to the beach, or watching movies.
How did you get into golf and how have you improved your game?
I started playing in college with friends playing a skins game. Eventually, I got tired of losing money, so I started hitting balls every day. My game is always a work in progress.
Can you tell us about a memorable golf experience you have had?
I remember when I first started at Kapalua, my father and I were able to come and play together early in the morning before regular play. When we spend our time together, it’s always a great day!
What’s your favorite club in your bag?
My money maker is my Scotty Cameron. Although sometimes we have a love/hate relationship.
Who is your favorite golfer, and why?
Tiger Woods is my favorite because of his ball-striking ability and mental toughness. These skills are unmatched.
What tip would you give someone visiting Kapalua Golf for the first time?
Learning to read the greens and grains is very important. Also, do what you can to get past the par 3’s unscathed.
What do you like most about working at Kapalua?
My coworkers and being able to make each other laugh throughout the day. We have a great team!
