Can you share a bit about your background and your role at Kapalua Golf?
Hi, I’m Jack Fisher. I am an assistant golf professional at Kapalua the Bay Course and have been working for Kapalua Golf and Tennis since the beginning of April 2023. I spent 2 years working for the Waldorf Astoria Golf Club in Orlando, Florida prior to moving to Maui for the Job in April.
What is your favorite aspect of working at Kapalua Golf?
My favorite aspect of working at Kapalua Golf is the joy I see on guests’ faces and hear in their voices as they recount their rounds in the pro shop.
What is the most memorable experience you’ve had playing golf?
The most memorable experience I’ve had playing golf has to be playing the Old Course at St Andrews with my dad. Our caddies were fantastic, and it was an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience to walk the same course where all the greatest players of all time have walked with him.
When you’re not working, what do you enjoy doing?
When I’m not working, I enjoy working out, golfing, hiking, hanging on the beach and many other outdoor activities this great state offers.
What’s one tip or piece of advice you would give to someone playing Kapalua Golf for the first time?
If it’s breezy, swing easy
If you could play a round of golf with anyone past or present, who would be in your foursome and why?
My dream foursome would be playing with my dad, Adam Sandler, and Tom Brady. Sandman is my favorite actor of all time, with Happy Gilmore being one of my favorite movies, and Brady is the greatest winner ever. Picking up little nuggets from them while enjoying a round with my pops would be a dream experience.
What’s the most valuable golf tip you’ve ever received, and who gave it to you?
One of the teaching pros at the Waldorf, Kyle McClone, gave me great advice a few years back. He said “Your next shot starts 10 seconds after your last shot, you have 10 seconds to get excited or upset, and move onto your next shot from there.”
